Chronic Brooklyn is owned and operated by a dynamic group of locals who are life-long friends. “We are Brooklyn. We are the neighborhood. We know that there will be lots of dispensaries to choose from, and we want our community to choose us and to trust us, when it comes to purchasing cannabis products”, says Fred Chu, one of Chronic Brooklyn’s six founders.
Born from a vision to revive the charm of a bygone era, the dispensary is unique in its historical charm with a nod to the past mom-and-pop shops of old Brooklyn. “The shop exudes a vintage vibe and has fun elements” says Ned Farrell, a partner and designer who worked with the team to bring the vision to life. “We’ve installed a Crescent Moon bench reminiscent of the 1920s for the perfect photo op. We’re using a pneumatic tubing delivery system in the ceiling so you can watch your order arrive to the sales floor – very yesteryear.”
“We’re a little store with a lot of personality”, says William Morales, partner. “We’ve really tried to remain true to that original Brooklyn look and feel. We want people to feel they’ve entered a one-of-a-kind cannabis destination when they visit us.”
Chronic Brooklyn is also a minority owned, Social Economic Equity (SEE) business. “We’re proud to be part of the 54% of adult-use licenses across the supply chain that are majority minority owned. Says Edward Morales, partner. Peter Chu, partner, agrees. “We are the original diversity. We all grew up here, went to school together, kicked it on the playground – we truly reflect the cultural diversity that makes Brooklyn world renowned.”
Chronic Brooklyn also has a vision to be a thoughtful, sustainable business that sees itself as part of the wider business ecosystem. “Our vision is lived daily – we aim to make positive impacts within our community, while contributing in a responsible way to the promotion of a growing and legitimate cannabis industry” says Tracy Pearce, partner. “We patronize local Brooklyn businesses and have implemented sustainable practices tp reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. We aim to be a good neighbor.
